Season 2 of Atlanta, also known as Atlanta: Robbin’ Season, has been on FX for three years now, so it’s been a while. That season was the best thing on TV in 2018. It had episodes like “Teddy Perkins,” “Barbershop,” and “Woods,” and the show was quickly renewed for a third season when season 2 ended.
The creator and star of the show, Donald Glover, has been very busy with a lot of different things since the show was last on. The Grammy-winning song “This Is America” was the first song he released as Childish Gambino, and he went on tour in 2018 and 2019. He also made the movie Guava Island with Rihanna and released the album 3.15.20 last year.
And he recently signed a deal with Amazon Studios and is working on a TV show based on the 2005 Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Phoebe Waller-Bridge, so he’s working on Atlanta and a lot of other things at the same time, which is a lot of work.
All that said, Atlanta season 3 is still one of the most talked-about shows coming out soon. Glover is doing his part to make people excited about the upcoming seasons of Atlanta. He said on Twitter last November that they will be some of the best TV ever made, only better than The Sopranos.
If someone else said that, it would seem like a joke. Glover, on the other hand, probably isn’t exaggerating. We can’t wait to see what he comes up with.
What Is Atlanta Season 3’s Release Date?
We’ve had a lot of trouble making season 3. The season was ordered in June of last year, right after the second season came to an end. It was supposed to air in 2019. In early 2019, FX president John Landgraf said that the season had been pushed back because of Glover’s “incredibly complicated life,” which caused scheduling conflicts.
In August 2019, FX said that they had already ordered a fourth season of Atlanta before the third season had even started filming. Both seasons would have eight episodes, Variety said at the time. There were going to be 10 episodes in Season 3 and they were going to be shot back-to-back, with a planned 2021 premiere date, says Deadline.
Then COVID happened, and production was again put on hold. Hollywood Reporter, on the other hand, says that the movie’s production is finally set to start in March. There hasn’t been a set premiere date or even a hint from FX about it. If season 3 starts filming in March as planned, it could premiere as early as fall 2021. But that’s still up in the air.

Who Will Be in Atlanta Season 3’s Cast?
As well as Glover, the show’s regular cast includes Brian. Atlanta helped make all of them into stars. Tyree Henry, Lakeith Stanfield, and Zazie Beetz are three of the people in this picture. They’ve all become very popular and well-known actors, with Tyree Henry, set to star in the upcoming Marvel movie Eternals, Stanfield getting attention for Judas and the Black Messiah, and Beetz in Deadpool 2 and Joker.
Even though Atlanta is coming up, they’ll all be back for that. They will reprise their roles as Alfred a.k.a. Paper Boi, Darius, and Van in the new movie. Glover, of course, will be back as Earnest “Earn” Marks. Not all of them will appear in every episode because they have so many things going on.
This was already the case in season 2, which had a few episodes without Glover while he was away filming Solo for Solo. Khris Davis is likely to play Tracy, a friend of Alfred’s who has recently been released from prison and who has a disagreement with Earn.
RJ Walker is likely to play Clark County, a rapper who has a very shady moral and ethical character who Earn and Alfred are afraid to work with. And there are bound to be a lot of famous and not-so-famous guest stars, like Katt Williams, who won an Emmy for her role in season 2. As of now, there hasn’t been an official cast member for season 3.

The Third Season of Atlanta Is Coming Up. What Will the Plot Be?
After season two ended, Earn and Alfred were on a plane to Europe with Clark County and his manager Lucas. Earn put a gun in Clark County’s bag, which Clark County then put on Lucas, and they were on their way to Europe (Matthew Barnes).
Probably, season 3 will pick up where season 2 left off. According to John Landgraf, the third season was supposed to be filmed at least partly in Europe. That was before the pandemic, so it’s not clear if that will happen.
As far as Atlanta season 3 goes, it’s hard to say what the show’s plot is going to be. A lot of what seems possible changes from episode to episode in the show. There was no way anyone could have predicted “Teddy Perkins.”
It’s likely that Glover and his writers, who include his brother Stephen Glover, Emmy-winning actress Stefani Robinson, Fam Udeorji, Ibra Ake, Jamal Olori, and Taofik Kolade, have more surprises in store.
Glover has a clause in his deal with Amazon that allows him to keep working on Atlanta even after season 4. It’s not clear if season 4 will be the last one for the show. On Hulu, you can watch the first and second seasons of Atlanta for free.
