Morbius Movie: When It Will Be Available to Watch on Netflix?

Morbius is an American superhero movie that will come out in 2022. It is based on the same-named Marvel Comics character and will be made by Columbia Pictures and Marvel. It is the third movie in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and is being put out by Sony Pictures Releasing (SSU).

Daniel Espinosa directed it, and Matt Sazama wrote the script. Jared Leto plays Dr. Michael Morbius, and Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson are also in it. In the movie, Morbius and his fake brother Milo both get rid of a rare blood disease and turn into vampires.

Since 1998, there have been several failed attempts to bring Morbius to the big screen. He was supposed to be part of the Blade movie series, and Artisan Entertainment was supposed to make a solo movie about him.

Sony started making a movie about Morbius after announcing plans for a new shared universe of movies based on Spider-Man characters, starting with Venom (2018). By November 2017, Sazama and Sharpless had written a script, and Leto and Espinosa joined the project for real in June 2018.

At the end of the year, more actors were cast for the movie, which won’t be made until February 2019 in London. It was confirmed that filming would be done by June 2019, and reshoots would take place in Los Angeles in February 2020.

Storyline

Dr. Morbius is very sick with a rare blood disorder, and he wants to save others from the same fate. So, he takes a risky gamble. What at first seems like a huge success turns out to be a cure that could be worse than the disease.

Production

Development:

In May 2000, Artisan Entertainment and Marvel Entertainment announced that they would work together to co-produce, finance, and distribute several movies based on Marvel Comics characters, including Morbius, the Living Vampire.

Before, the character was supposed to show up in Blade (1998). Director Stephen Norrington was going to play the part as a cameo before getting a bigger role in a sequel. But the character wasn’t in the first movie, and Norrington didn’t come back for Blade II (2002), so the character wasn’t there.

In May 2017, Sony announced plans for a new shared universe with Spider-Man-related properties. This was later called “Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.” It will start with Venom in October 2018.

In July, Jon Watts, who directed Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), said that he wanted Morbius and Blade to be in the then-untitled Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).

He thought that the dark tone of the characters would work well in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). After a “secret development process” at the studio, Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless gave Sony a script for a Morbius movie in November of that year.

Jared Leto became “loosely attached” to playing the lead role, but he wouldn’t commit to the movie until he was happy with how it was going to be made. Leto asked to meet with several potential directors before making a decision.

Filming

Under the working title Plasma, principal photography for the film began in London during the final week of February 2019. The movie’s cinematographer was Oliver Wood.

Tyrese Gibson and Jared Harris joined the cast as Morbius’s mentor and an FBI agent pursuing Morbius, respectively, as filming began.

Smith was initially said to be playing the evil Loxias Crown / Hunger, but it was later discovered that he was actually portraying Milo, an original character who is comparable to Loxias Crown. Harris’ identity as Dr. Nicholas, a mentor and father figure to both Michael and Milo, was made public.

The Northern Quarter of Manchester served as the stand-in for New York City during March’s filming. A month later, Gibson revealed that he was playing Simon Stroud and that Alberto Rodriguez, Stroud’s partner, had been cast as Al Madrigal.

Justin Haythe was thought to have written for the movie by the month’s end. Venom producer Amy Pascal announced in June that filming had “just wrapped” despite the project’s 12-week shooting schedule. Pinewood Studios also saw production.

It got to the UK a little earlier than expected, on March 31, 2022.

The movie has been delayed before. Morbius was supposed to come out on July 31, 2020, in both the UK and the US. However, the coronavirus pandemic caused many films to be pushed back several times.

Since then, the movie has been pushed back five times, with release dates like March and October 2021.

Morbius Scene – the Transformation

On December 5, Morbius gave fans a full scene that showed how Dr. Michael Morbius (Jared Leto) changed into his vampire form.

In the clip, Adria Arjona is also seen as Morbius’s fiancee, Martine Bancroft, who seems to be taking care of Michael.

Morbius fights with a group of armed guards before he finally changes back into a human.

In the new movie, we should see a lot of scenes like this.

Morbius trailer

After a long wait, the first full trailer for Morbius came out on Tuesday, November 2. The clip makes people wonder which movie universe Morpheus is in, and it seems to be teasing a lot about the Sony and Marvel Cinematic Universes coming together. And if that’s true, it will be even harder to watch the Marvel movies in order.

As you can see, the trailer talks about Venom more than once, both in terms of what happened in San Francisco and Morbius calling Venom by name.

You might think this is part of the Spider-Man and Venom movies that Tom Holland and Tom Hardy are starring in right now for Sony.

When Will ‘Morbius’ Be Available on Streaming?

Morbius is part of Sony’s Spider-Man universe. This means that Sony Pictures, not Marvel, owns the character, just like Tom Hardy’s Venom films and even Spider-Man himself.

Because Sony Pictures owns the rights to the character, the chances of the movie being streamed are limited, at least at first.

In April 2021, Variety reported that Sony Pictures had made a deal with Netflix to give Netflix the exclusive rights to stream its movies in a first-pay-window agreement. This deal applies to all of the studio’s movies that come out in 2022.

So, Morbius will be available to stream first on Netflix. The film hasn’t been given a release date yet, but it usually comes out around seven months after its first showing in theatres.
