Early Life of Redman
Reginald “Reggie” Noble was born on April 17, 1970, in Newark, New Jersey. He grew up with his mother Darlene, father Eddie, and sister Rosalyn, a rapper who goes by Roz and has been on several of her brother’s songs.
Rapper Rahem Brown, commonly known as Tame One, is his cousin. Redman graduated from West Side High School, Speedway Avenue School, and 13th Avenue School.
He also attended Montclair State University, but was expelled during his first year due to poor academic standing. Redman, who was only 16 years old when he moved back in with his mother, was forced to do so after she learned that he was dealing cocaine.
At the age of 18, he began DJing in parks and at house parties under the name DJ Kut-Killa. Later, he joined Lords of the Underground and was discovered by hip-hop duo EPMD’s Erick Sermon. Redman relocated to Sermon’s residence on Long Island and started travelling with EPMD.
