When Will Apple Tv’s Hijack Come Out? Here’s Everything You Need to Know About the Series.

Apple TV+ has been on a roll this year, continually launching new series that stand out from the crowd. This means that the streaming service not only offers a great selection of shows but also doesn’t force its audience to wait around for an appropriate starting point in a potentially rewarding series.

After adding several popular titles this year like Drops of God, Bad Sisters, Ted Lasso, and Last Thing He Told Me, the company has announced that it will add another miniseries to its library called Hijack.

About Hijeck

British writers Jim Field Smith and George Kay have developed an exciting new thriller series called “Hijack.” In addition to starring in and executive producing the series, Idris Elba first got the go-ahead for the project back in April of 2022.

Since Elba has never played a role that was very James Bond-like, he will bring a unique flavor to this film. He told Entertainment Weekly, “It takes a fresh approach to a thriller and hostage situation,” praising the film’s real-time storytelling.

The effects on human nature of knowing there is a time bomb on board a plane are heightened. Whatever the case may be, here is everything we know about Hijack, a new thriller on Apple TV+.

Hijack Release Date

When Will Hijack Be Released?

On Wednesday, June 28th, Hijack will debut officially on Apple TV+. New episodes will air on Wednesdays going forward. The series is produced by George Kay and Jim Field Smith, the minds behind the Criminal series on Netflix.

What Would We Expect From the Hijack?

The official trailer for Hijack, available now on Apple TV+, provides a summary of the entire show. The suspense novel is set on a trip from Dubai to London and spans the entire seven hours.

Normal takeoff procedure is followed, but shortly after five passengers cause a commotion with firearms and hijack the flight. Experienced business negotiator Sam Nelson (Idris Elba) is also a passenger on the flight.

In order to return home to his loved ones unscathed, Sam tries to negotiate with the terrorists. As London’s officials work to find a solution, tensions rise and productive talks may seem impossible.

When faced with no other choice, Sam decides to implement a secret strategy that has the potential to free everyone from the hijackers’ control but also has the risk of failing, in which case everyone will remain at gunpoint. When more authorities are sent to the scene, what plan does Sam have to preserve the lives of all on board?

Here is how Apple TV+ describes the story, which we elaborated upon based on the trailer:

Told in real-time, “Hijack” is a tense thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven-hour flight, and authorities on the ground scramble for answers. Elba will star as Sam Nelson, an accomplished negotiator in the business world who needs to step up and use all his guile to try and save the lives of the passengers — but his high-risk strategy could be his undoing. Panjabi will play the role of Zahra Gahfoor, a counterterrorism officer who is on the ground when the plane is hijacked and becomes part of the investigation.

Despite the story’s intriguing premise, it feels very similar to Passenger 57, starring Wesley Snipes, except that Wesley is an aircraft security specialist and Idris is a business negotiator. Furthermore, a feature rather than a seven-episode series could have been preferable, given the complexity of the plot.
