Will Season 3 of Kakegurui Ever Be Released?

In the anime series “Kakegurui,” students at Hyakkou Private Academy, an exclusive school that pushes them to develop their gambling abilities instead of rating them on the basis of their academic competence or even athletic performance, follow the fortunes of the students in the series. Yumeko Jabami, a transfer student and obsessive gambler, joins the fray and brings the worst players to their knees in shame. The anime was initially shown in 2017 (and then made its way to Netflix in 2018), and it now has two seasons with a total of 12 episodes available. Given that it’s been many years after the release of the second season, which was titled “Kakegurui xx,” it’s about time for the third season to premiere. Right?

After accounting for production delays caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, fans have been waiting for a new season of “Kakegurui” for quite some time. However, this has not occurred as of yet. Listed below is all we know so far regarding the possibility of a new season of episodes for this beloved shonen anime.

Kakegurui Season 3 does not seem to be in the works at this time.

There is no way to tell whether “Kakegurui” will return for a third season without a formal renewal announcement from either the anime studio Mappa or the series’ distributor Netflix, which is licenced to broadcast the series outside of Japan.

Renewals are often determined by factors like as popularity and the availability of source material. A Japanese manga series written by Homura Kawamoto and drawn by Tooru Naomura, “Kakegurui” is the inspiration for the film. The manga series now consists of 14 volumes with 82 chapters written by Kawamoto and illustrated by Naomura (via Fandom). Some variations exist between the manga and the anime, however the anime has a total of 56 episodes, which is almost the same as the manga. In other words, there’s nearly enough for one more season of the show! First and foremost, the program’s first season concluded on an original episode; similarly, the show’s second season finished on an original episode (in both instances, a type of ending was made, maybe in case the show was not renewed). If it were to happen again, there would be enough material for at least three more seasons of the show.

However, it is unclear just how popular the series genuinely is at this point. Netflix does not make available to the public the number of people who have seen their shows (and has been making some high-profile cancellations lately). Furthermore, positive evaluations and ratings may not always correspond to real numbers in terms of who is watching and how many people are watching. If Mappa announces a renewal today, the programme would still have to go through the production process, which would mean we’d have to wait a little longer for it to launch on the network’s network.
