The pupils of Hyakkou Private Academy, an elite school, are the focus of the anime “Kakegurui,” which focuses on the development of students’ gambling skills as opposed to their academic or athletic achievements.
When Yumeko Jabami, a transfer student and obsessive gambler, enters the picture, the worst players are humiliated to the point of tears. The first season of the anime aired in 2017, and the second season, consisting of 12 episodes, was released in 2018.
Season two, “Kakegurui xx,” premiered in 2019, thus it’s about time for season three to air now that several years have passed. Right? Even with the production delays caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, “Kakegurui” fans have been waiting a long time for a renewal.
It hasn’t happened yet, though. So far, here’s all we know about a possible new batch of episodes for this well-liked shonen show:
Season 3 of Kakegurui does not appear to be in the horizon.
No one knows for sure if “Kakegurui” will return for Season 3 without a definite statement from either anime studio Mappa or Netflix, which has the license to stream the series outside of Japan.
In many cases, renewals are dependent on the show’s popularity and the amount of available source material. Based on the Japanese manga series “Kakegurui,” which has 14 volumes of 82 chapters written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrating by Tooru Naomura, “Kakegurui” (via Fandom).

There are various variations between the manga and the anime, but for the most part, the anime has covered 56 episodes. That means there’s almost enough for a second season to be added. There was an original episode at the end of the first season, and there was one at the end of the second season (perhaps in the event that the show was not renewed).
If that were to happen again, there would be plenty of content for at least another three seasons’ worth of shows. The series’ popularity, on the other hand, is debatable. Netflix does not make available to the public the number of people who have watched its content (and has been making some high-profile cancellations lately).

And strong ratings and reviews aren’t always indicative of who and how many people are actually watching. If Mappa were to announce a renewal today, the show would still have to go through the production process, which means we’d have to wait a little longer for it to air.
