It’s difficult not to make a layman’s academic connection between modern society’s obsession with superheroes and ancient Greek myths. After all, both feature larger-than-life characters engaged in epic battles with those who wish to harm humanity.
As Netflix’s Blood of Zeus has demonstrated, there are still new and interesting stories to be told with Zeus, Hera, and the rest of the pantheon of gods, demigods, and giants. These characters aren’t what you remember from Disney’s Hercules, and there are plenty of surprises along the way, so even the most seasoned classicist will be taken aback.
Blood of Zeus was an instant hit when it first debuted on the streaming platform in October 2020, and the first season currently has a critics’ rating of 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s no surprise, then, that Netflix was quick to order season 2.
If you’ve seen the show, you’ll know that the season 1 finale set the stage for major developments in the future, so here’s what we know about Blood of Zeus season 2 so far, other than the fact that it’s definitely happening.

What Will Happen in Season 2 of Blood of Zeus?
There is some speculation about Seraphim’s fate after Hades orders him to kneel before him in order to avoid the dreadful fate of living in the Underworld. Heron and the other Gods of Olympus are in serious trouble now that Seraphim has been forced to serve the dangerous and ambitious Hades.
However, with Seraphim’s arrogant and ambitious nature, he will find a way to escape Hade’s clutches. Another question is who will lead the Gods of Olympus after Zeus gave his life to save Hera from the wrath of the giants. Zeus’ death leaves the Gods of Olympus without a ruler.
The subsequent episodes, on the other hand, indicate that his son, Heron, will most likely succeed him as the new leader. Heron used Zeus’ powers to defeat his brother Seraphim in a battle, leading us to believe that Heron will likely follow in his father’s footsteps.
Finally, we’re curious about Hera’s fate. After the epic battle between the Gods and the Giants, the Goddess has yet to be seen. While Zeus’ sacrifice may persuade her to return to Mount Olympus, we don’t know if the other Gods will accept her. And how will she react when Heron, Zeus’ bastard son, rises through the ranks? Will she eventually come to accept him?

Who Is in the Blood of Zeus Season 2 Cast?
There has been no word on which voice actors (if any) will be joining the show in the future, but fans can expect to see Derek Phillips as Heron, Jessica Henwick as Alexia, Elias Toufexis as Seraphim, Adam Croasdell as Apollo, and Matthew Mercer as Hermes return.
Zeus (Jason O’Mara) gave his life to protect his wife, Hera, in the season one finale (Claudia Christian). Hera was badly injured the last time we saw her, but she managed to flee, most likely to plan her next attack. Regardless, as immortal gods in a magical universe, a resurrection isn’t out of the question, and it also sounds like some flashbacks are in the works (but more on that later).
To summarize, fans should not say goodbye to these characters just yet. There’s also Hades (Fred Tatasciore), who appeared briefly last season. The Greek god of the underworld appears to be the primary antagonist in season 2, implying a much larger role for Tatasciore.
When Will the Second Season of Blood of Zeus Be Released?
Blood of Zeus, formerly known as Gods & Heroes, was first announced in March 2019 (via The Hollywood Reporter). It was released roughly a year and a half later, so one would assume a similar timetable would be in place for season 2; by that logic, more episodes should be available sometime in the first half of 2022.

It also takes longer to launch a new show than it does to produce a second season, so there’s a chance we’ll see season 2 even sooner — especially given Netflix’s confident renewal. However, there is always the question of the extent of the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact.
It’s possible that the outbreak hampered season 1, and that the upcoming season will face similar delays. There’s also the question of how busy Powerhouse Animation’s production company will be in the near future.
Another Netflix hit series created by the company is Castlevania, which has been renewed for a fourth and final season. Any lengthy wait will be worthwhile as long as both series maintain their quality.
When Will the Second Season of Blood of Zeus Be Available on Netflix?
Season 2 of ‘Blood of Zeus’ has yet to be announced by Netflix. Season 2 of Blood of Zeus will almost certainly be a long time coming. It takes a long time to complete an animation project. The series was first mentioned in a March 2019 announcement.
Blood of Zeus, on the other hand, took more than a year to arrive at Netflix. Unless production on season 2 has already begun, we’ll have to wait until late 2022 to see Blood of Zeus again. Keep an eye on this space for updates from time to time.
