To begin, Terrence Howard plays Lucious Lyon, a.k.a. Dwight Walker. Lucious, a former drug dealer who is now the CEO of Empire Entertainment and a hip-hop magnate, was previously a drug dealer. Lucious has been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and he only has three years to live.

Cookie is his main love interest on the show. Cookie is played by Taraji P. Henson, who is Lucious’s wife and the mother of his three sons. She spent 17 years in prison for cocaine trafficking, blaming Lucious. When she was released from prison, she set out to reclaim her portion of Empire Entertainment from Lucious.

Hakeem Lyon, Lucious and Cookie’s youngest son, is played by Bryshere Y. Gray. He is disrespectful to his mother at first, but as time passes, he warms up to her. Hakeen is his father’s favourite and a budding hip-hop artist. Throughout the episode, he has a number of love affairs until marrying Maya in Season 6.

Jamal Lyon, Lucious’ second son, is played by Jussie Smollett. He is his mother’s favorite, yet he has a strained connection with Lucious. Jamal gets along well with his younger brother, Hakeem. He is both a gay and a singer-songwriter.

Because Smollet submitted a bogus police report about two individuals assaulting him, we didn’t see Jamal in the sixth season of Empire. Andre Lyon, the Lyon Family’s eldest son, is played by Trai Byers. He is intelligent and aspires to greater power.

At the start of the show, he is married to Rhonda, his college love. Later on, she dies, and in season 5, he marries Teri, who is played by Grace Byers.

His dynasty will now be passed down to his children, but he will groom only one of them. His offspring, Empire CFO Andre, R&B singer and songwriter Jamal, and rapper Hakeem, are capable of carrying on the family tradition. Lyon’s ex-wife is freed from prison after serving a 17-year term, which adds a twist to the story.
