Good news for those who have been looking forward to seeing Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy. The adventure comedy will be available for streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar beginning October 15. It will be available in the following languages: Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and English.
The plot of Free Guy revolves around a bank teller who discovers he is a background character in an open-world video game. He decides to be the protagonist of his own story. In a world without boundaries, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world the right way, before it’s too late.
When Will Free Guy Be Released?
Free Guy was supposed to be released last year, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. It will now be released in theatres on August 13, 2021. As of now, 20th Century Studios will release the film exclusively in theatres on that date, and it will not be available for streaming until after its theatrical run concludes.

The cast of Free Guy
Ryan Reynolds plays the film’s main character, Guy, a video game bank teller, and he brings all of his sarcastic charms with him. Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) plays the badass video game character Molotov Girl, who shakes Guy out of his routine as a background character. Millie, the gamer who controls her in real life, is also played by her.
Meanwhile, Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows, Thor: Ragnarok) plays the jerk video game creator who is attempting to shut down the entire thing for some reason. Waititi should have a lot of fun with this role, and there will apparently be about 20 minutes of alternate jokes he improvised on set that will be cut into a special feature for the film’s home video release.
Supporting roles are played by Joe Keery (Stranger Things), Lil Rel Howery (Get Out), and Utkarsh Ambudkar (Pitch Perfect). Cameo appearances will also be made by YouTube gaming personalities such as Jacksepticeye, Ninja, Pokimane, DanTDM, and LazarBeam. If you’re over the age of 25, you probably won’t recognize any of those people, but there are apparently other cameos from famous faces that you’ll enjoy a lot more, but we won’t spoil those for you.

Free Guy Plot
Aside from the clever concept, dizzying action, and bright pop of colors, what makes Free Guy so wonderful is the delightful lightness of being. Characters becoming self-aware is not a novel concept. Neither is the idea of us being tiny cogs in some big, fat, frantic wheel turned by unfeeling, unthinking gods who will undoubtedly kill us for sport appealing.
The Matrix placed Neo and his gang in a simulation (complete with steak), The Truman Show was reality television, and Ready Player One saw people voluntarily choose to live in a simulation to escape the horrors of the post-apocalyptic real world.

The Matrix was dead serious about the rabbit hole, the red and blue pills, and Kansas leaving. Free Guy, on the other hand, has a lot of fun with its very serious concept, which, like The Matrix, is based on Plato’s (no less) Allegory of the Cave.
Guy (Ryan Reynolds) leads a routine life. He gets up, greets his goldfish, selects his outfit of the day from a rack of identical blue shirts and khaki trousers, goes to the coffee shop for the same cup of coffee, and then goes to the bank where he works as a teller.
The bank is robbed a surprisingly large number of times. Guy and his best friend, the security guard Buddy (Lil Rel Howery), know the drill and throw themselves on the floor and continue chatting as soon as the hold-up occurs.
