Bright 2 Release Date: Is the Film “Bright” Based on a Novel?

Bright is an American urban fantasy action film written by Max Landis and directed by David Ayer. Netflix made a lot of news when Chris Hemsworth’s film Extraction was released.

This is because, with movies like this, Netflix has fully entered the blockbuster game. Netflix was just getting started with original films a few years ago, but they didn’t move into the blockbuster area at all.

Instead, because they didn’t have much money at the time, they focused on smaller films that were easier for them to make. When Netflix went big for the first time in 2017, it completely transformed the game.

Bright 2

Bright, their urban fantasy picture, was a wonderful example of blockbuster filmmaking, with a reported budget of $100 million.

Will Smith, a well-known actor, was cast in the film. Bright was panned by many critics when it first came out, yet it has now become the most watched Netflix original in history.

What Is the Plot of the Sequel to Bright?

Because Netflix has reportedly hired a director and arranged for Will Smith and Joel Edgerton to reprise their roles in Bright 2, the most obvious question that fans of the original film have is what the sequel will be about.

Sadly, despite the fact that Bright 2’s screenplay has been completed and polished, the studio is keeping plot elements for the picture under wraps.

So, if we’re being entirely honest, we don’t have the foggiest idea what Bright 2 will be about.

But, given that both Smith and Edgerton have confirmed their return, you can expect that much of the action will take place on the mean streets of Los Angeles, and that the odd couple of the L.A.P.D.

Will be thrown headfirst into some epic mystical adventure. Despite the fact that a return to L.A. is almost guaranteed, according to the Collider piece, at least part of Bright 2 is expected to open up the universe in terms of magical lunacy taking place on a global scale.

It’s unclear whether this implies Smith and Edgerton’s officers would travel to unknown locations while investigating their new case, or whether the case will bring international components to Los Angeles.

As we’ve already noted, it appears that we’ll have to wait a long time to find out, so be sure to check back for updates on Bright 2.

When Will Bright 2 Be Available on Netflix?

After nearly three years since the release of Bright on Netflix, the studio is definitely not in a rush to complete the sequel.

While this is most likely due to the busy work schedules of both Will Smith and Joel Edgerton, it could also be due to Max Landis’ current issues, as he wrote Bright from a completely unique notion.

Given these issues, Netflix chose to move forward with Bright 2 without the world’s creator, with David Ayer and Evan Spiliotopoulos co-writing the new film.

T.S. Newlin recently whipped that duo’s screenplay into fighting form, and it appears Netflix is ready to move forward with his version of the script.

Netflix has also recently hired Louis Letterer, the filmmaker of Now You See Me and The Incredible Hulk, to direct Bright 2, indicating that the streaming service is eager to get the project in front of the cameras and onto their platform as soon as possible.

Bright 2

Of course, given the current state of production delays in Hollywood, as well as the resulting logjam in terms of actor work schedules, it’ll be a long time before Bright 2 is actively in production.

Nonetheless, considering the success of Bright, you can bet the sequel will be released during the holiday season. The only genuine uncertainty is whether Bright 2 will be released in December 2021, December 2022, or later.

Is Bright Based on a Book?

No, the film Bright isn’t based on a book. Bright is an original work in that it is not a remake of a novel with a similar name or idea, such as Blade Runner and Do Androids Dream, The Lord of the Rings and The Lord of the Rings, or Arrival and Story of Your Life.
