“Based on the book by Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton, We Own This City chronicles the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force.

And the corruption and moral collapse that befell an American city in which drug prohibition and mass arrest policies were championed at the expense of actual police work,” HBO says of the Own This City plot.

For those unfamiliar with the Gun Trace Task Force controversy, it involves nine Baltimore Police Department officers who, according to the Baltimore Sun, terrorized city residents for three years.

The cops were supposed to be removing guns and violent criminals from the city streets, according to Vox.

Instead, they committed robberies, did illegitimate searches, worked overtime for the city, and even carried imitation firearms to plant in the event that they shot defenceless people.

Former policemen in question generally targeted suspected criminals, believing that if they tried to disclose police wrongdoing, their comments would be dismissed.

Furthermore, the humiliated policemen committed all of their crimes in order to profit by hundreds of thousands of dollars.

When Will We Own This City Be Released On HBO?

We Own This City will premiere on HBO on Monday, April 25th at 9 p.m. ET/PT. At that time, HBO Max will make the series available to stream.

The remaining five episodes of the limited series will air on Mondays in the coming weeks, with the last episode premiering on May 30.
