Patricia is an author who rose to prominence as a result of her bawdy novels about female liberation, but she is not letting her light go out.

They must relocate, occupying “renowned” locations where numerous catastrophes have occurred over the years. Everyone assumes the house is normal, except Pat.

Whom everyone soon assumes is either possessed or miserable enough to see illusions. Pat is haunted by her 16-year sobriety, her inability to obtain conjugal rights.
