Top Gun: Maverick’ Becomes Paramount’s Second-highest-grossing Film Ever

Since its release, Top Gun: Maverick has exceeded expectations and continues to dominate at the box office. The film has consistently broken box office records and is now Paramount Pictures’ second-highest-grossing film ever.

Tom Cruise’s sequel had only recently replaced Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as the highest-grossing film of 2022, surpassing $400 million and supplanting Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Now, after three weeks of worldwide theatrical release, Top Gun: Maverick is Paramount Pictures’ second highest-grossing film, surpassing Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which grossed $402 million at its peak.

Maverick has grossed $415 million, placing it behind the legendary film Titanic, which has grossed over $650 million.

Nonetheless, if this wind persists, the top position is within reach. Since its worldwide release, the film has become Tom Cruise’s highest-grossing film with $800 million.

This surpasses the previous record held by Mission: Impossible – Fallout, which earned $791 million. Undoubtedly, Maverick has been achieving astounding results and setting new records.

With $422 million pulled so far, the domestic side of this is also nothing to scoff at, given the optimistic global outlook. International markets are not slack either, as $384 million has been reported from abroad.

Top Gun: Maverick

This film is now Tom’s most successful in terms of opening weekend gross. Top Gun: Maverick is the most successful Tom Cruise film in 23 international markets, including the United Kingdom, Australia, and Brazil.

It is also the largest live-action film released by Paramount Pictures in 15 markets. Given that ticket sales are still robust, there is still the possibility of the film reaching new heights, and perhaps the $1 billion mark can be reached globally.

Top Gun: Maverick, which was released over the Memorial Day weekend, demonstrates that when a sequel is executed well, it can be a massive success.

In addition to Tom Cruise, who reprises his role as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell from the original film, Maverick also features Val Kilmer, another Top Gun alum.

Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Monica Barbaro, Jay Ellis, Miles Teller, Glen Powell, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Connelly, and Greg Tarzan Davis also star in the film.

The director of the film is Joseph Kosinski. Given that Thor: Love and Thunder and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever are still to be released.

It will be a remarkable battle to see if Maverick can maintain its position for the remainder of the year. Check out the film’s official plot summary if you have not yet seen it:
