World on Fire is a British war drama series written by Peter Bowker. “World on Fire,” a huge World War II drama produced by the BBC and PBS’ Masterpiece Theater, was a home run for the networks.
When World War II officially begins in 1939, the star-studded series follows the exploits of people in cities as diverse as Manchester, Warsaw, Berlin, and Paris, among others.
In September 2019, Season 1 of the PBS series “World on Fire” premiered in Europe, followed by a premiere on PBS in the spring of 2020. Since then, fans have been waiting with bated breath for word of Season 2.
While the epidemic has caused production to be delayed, the good news is that Season 2 of “World on Fire” will go on as planned. In fact, the show’s creator, Peter Bowker, stated in a 2019 interview with Radio Times that he had the characters’ journeys planned out over the course of six seasons.
“I know what happens to the key characters over the course of six series,” he remarked. “When pitching a program, people will frequently inquire as to what will happen in series four, episode three. ‘What is going to happen to this character?’ You must be aware of the situation without appearing to be English about it.”
Of course, this does not necessarily imply that the program will be renewed for a sixth season, but fans can rest confident that Season 2 is on the way — and, even better, Bowker and the actors have shared some details about what viewers can expect to see when the show comes to our screens.

The PBS Masterpiece Theater website has also confirmed that “World on Fire” will return to the network for a second season, but has also stated that it is “too early” to announce how many episodes there will be or who will be in the cast.
In a 2019 interview with Town & Country, PBS Masterpiece executive producer Susanne Simpson revealed that Season 2 will focus on the year 1940 and how World War II affected people across the United Kingdom and Europe at the time.
Bowker has also hinted at the big stories for the upcoming season. “In Season 2, Kasia [Zofia Wichlacz] and Lois [Julia Brown] will meet, and the ramifications from that will be intriguing and fascinating for everyone,” he stated.
“Historically, Season 2 will begin with the blitz in the Northwest of England,” Bowker stated. “And North Africa will be a major battleground.
We’ll learn more about Webster’s [Brian J. Smith] ancestors. Nancy [Helen Hunt] will be forced to leave Berlin near the beginning of the series for crossing a line, and we will also learn more about Nancy… She will undoubtedly spend some time in the Soviet Union.”
He also stated that after accepting his proposal at the end of Season 1, Lois will be in a “Bront-esque, loveless marriage with Vernon.” Vernon (Arthur Darvill) represents security for Lois and her daughter, but a marriage without love could wear on her stubborn and independent personality.
