The release of Ellie Goulding’s upcoming project is drawing ever closer. The British singer is getting ready to release her fifth studio album, which is titled Higher Than Heaven.
To build up excitement for the album’s arrival, she recently gave an interview to Billboard News in which she discussed the first single from the album, “Easy Lover,” which features Big Sean, as well as what fans can anticipate hearing from the project overall.
Fans of the singer who was nominated for a Grammy were able to hear “Easy Lover” after its release in July, but the song had been in the works for several years before that.
In Los Angeles, where I was living at the time, I penned the song “Easy Lover.” Goulding explained, “I was with Greg Kurstin, one of my favorite producers of all time, and Julia Michaels, who is an incredible songwriter.”
“At the time, I believe one of us was dealing with a well-known f–boy, but we ended up writing a song about going back to the same person who’s harmed you because you think you can change them.
We always act as though we can alter someone, but the reality is that we can’t. About the fact that the song is accessible to a wide audience, the artist, who is 35 years old, stated, “I can’t help but write about circumstances we all go through.
I think it’s amazing that someone might listen to one of my songs and feel as though they’re getting some kind of direction or assistance from it. I like to help people.
I was raised on house music, dance music, and pop music, so if there’s any way I can combine the two styles into one performance, I usually will.
Big Sean contributes a verse to the song “Easy Lover,” which is a collaboration that has been in the works ever since Big Sean sampled Ellie Goulding’s 2009 song “Fighter Plane” on his 2011 hit “High,” which also featured Wiz Khalifa and Chiddy Bang.
Big Sean raps on the track “Easy Lover.” Since then, Goulding and Sean have stayed in touch, which led to their collaboration on the song “Easy Lover.”
The singer revealed that they had maintained their relationship throughout the years because the producer had sampled them on multiple occasions.
“I always feel like there’s something pretty special in someone who appreciates me that early on as an artist, so I’ve stayed in touch with everyone from that era, in particular, him because I think he’s consistently been a brilliant artist.”
“I’ve always felt like there’s something pretty special in someone who appreciates me that early on as an artist. This song was going to be the one we collaborated on at some time in the future, and it just so happened to be this one.”
In addition, Goulding updated fans on the status of the release of Higher Than Heaven and offered a preview of the subsequent track from the project. “

The album is finished, but I’m sure that when it gets to the release date at the beginning of next year, I’ll be like, ‘No!’ and I’ll end up scrapping the whole thing.
More songs need to be written!'” she exclaimed. “However, I still have a few more songs that will be released this year. The one that comes after this one has my whole attention. It’s one of those songs that isn’t a radio tune, but I think it will be something that people will like listening to.
It is anticipated that Higher Than Heaven will come on February 3rd, 2023. Check out the video for “Easy Lover” below, and make sure to watch Ellie Goulding’s interview with Billboard News, which can be found above.
