About Marie Antoinette

Marie Antoinette, an Austrian nobility, married Louis-Auguste, the future King of France when she was still a child. Her sole reason for being there was to bear children.

But nothing went exactly as planned. For seven years, Marie Antoinette’s spouse refused to touch her because her proclivities caused chaos in the imperial family.

She irritated Louis XV of France’s favourite, Madame du Barry, and destroyed the court’s peculiar customs. The story will centre on Marie Antoinette’s negotiations with the French palace and the enormous strain she endured in order to have a son who could carry on the Bourbon monarchy.

She gave birth to her first child with King Louis XVI eight years after their marriage, greatly increasing popular mistrust of the couple. Of course, the duchess bore the brunt of the blame for the couple’s sterility.

Scholars now agree that Louis XVI did not touch his wife for seven years after their marriage. Louis XV, Marie Antoinette’s father-in-law, whose efforts to acquaint her with the clan took an unusual turn when he allegedly tried to sleep with her, was just one of the many surprises she allegedly experienced during her formative years in France.

He was raised in poverty but rose through the ranks to become the King’s maîtresse-en-titer before being kicked out of the palace when Louis XVI became King. Du Barry was eventually executed for treachery during the Revolt.
