An intensive care nurse and podcaster with a sizeable social media following has tragically passed away after a long battle with leukemia. On Tuesday, July 20, influential physician Ebi Porbeni, known for hosting the Nurse Speak podcast, passed away.
In September of last year, the renowned health care professional was diagnosed with leukaemia and openly shared his battle with the disease with his social media followers.
The nurse reportedly had 1.2 million followers on his Instagram profile @nurselifern at the time of his death, where he shared stories about his job.

What Did His Fans Says About His Passing?
Emily, Ebi’s social media coordinator, paid tribute to him on Instagram, writing, “With heavy hearts, we regret to inform you that Ebi died away Tuesday afternoon, surrounded by family and friends.”
“We are aware that the @nurselifern community has had a beneficial impact on his life. His family requests that his privacy be respected,” she continued.
His admirers commemorated his life and impact on Twitter. One person wrote: “This extraordinary nurse, @ebi eats, died of cancer. He managed the Instagram account @nurselifern.
He provided so many people joy. He was a guiding light. “During nursing school, I relied frequently on his wit to de-stress. Without you, the nursing community will never be the same.”
Another responded, “It’s devastating to consider that a man who impacted so many of our lives as nurses has passed away.
How Did Ebi the Nurse Die?
Ebi Porbeni was a nurse and a well-known person on social media. He ran the Nurse Speak podcast and had over 1.2 million Instagram followers on his @nurselifern account, where he posted memes and stories about his life as a nurse.
Ebi was born in Nigeria and moved to the United States when he was nine. He went to Malone University and then got a job as a nurse in the ICU at the University of California, Los Angeles.

His social media coordinator said that Ebi died on July 20, 2021, after a long battle with leukaemia. The nurse was told he had the disease in September of last year, and he told his Instagram followers about his fight with cancer, says The Metro.
When Ebi found out he had cancer, he went on social media to ask his fans for money to help pay for his treatments. He set up a GoFundMe campaign that brought in more than $250,000 for the cause.
Ebi said he was “nervous” to write about his fight with cancer and was “hesitant” to set up a fundraising page.
