Johnny is among the youngest figure skaters, having begun skating at a very young age. His skating career began when he was twelve years old. 2013 marked Johny’s retirement from competitive figure skating.

In 1997 and 1998, Johnny won the regional and other minor tournaments in single skating as a novice. In the beginner division of the United States National Championships, he placed third.

Additionally, Johnny won the Junior Eastern Sectionals during the 1999-2000 season. Johnny was a contestant on the 29th season of Dancing with the Stars, which premiered on September 14, 2020.

In 2001, five years after first attempting to skate, he won the Gold Medal at the World Junior Championships.

On December 30, 2011, Johnny Weir and his lover Victor Voronov were united in marriage. Victor was a lawyer who quit proacting law to support his partner’s career, which required them to travel the globe.

They never adopted or bore children of their own, but they did raise a chihuahua they named “Ma.” However, after just two years of being together, the couple experienced difficulties.

An cordial breakup quickly descended into a nasty public feud. At their New Jersey home, Victor accused Johnny of engaging in physical violence, for which he even suffered multiple injuries.

In addition to all of this, there were legal claims of rape, animal abuse, and the spread of STDs. With each passing day, the argument between the ex-lovers grew more acrimonious.

They divorced formally in March 2014. On the surface, it appeared that Johnny Weir had to pay a high price to leave the unhappy marriage. He even had to sell one of his pricey Faberge eggs, which cost $15,000, in order to pay his legal fees.

Johnny was mentally and financially destroyed by it. Johnny had to pay Victor $6,000 a month in addition to covering the costs of the legal fees on both sides because he was the only earner in the relationship.
