He draws their attention to the stories of Elijah and the Former Wife of Zarephath, Elisha, and Naaman to highlight the types of people who are most receptive to supernatural events and signs: the grieving and the spiritually impoverished.

He does this even though he is aware of their desire for signs and wonders.

Recap of The Chosen Season 3, Episode 3

Jesus warns the crowd that he cannot save them until they recognize their inner poverty. When the Rabbi asks if Jesus is supposed to represent them as the Messiah, Jesus says, “Yes.” “I am the Law,” Jesus responds to the Rabbi’s threat to have him executed if he does not repent according to the Law of Moses.

When the crowd tries to drag Jesus away, Lazarus tries to help, but Jesus tells his friend not to be afraid and allows himself to be dragged away.

Jesus is led to the edge of the cliff and executed for allegedly making a false prophecy. Rabbi Benjamin’s sadness demonstrates his affection for Mary and the late Joseph. Jesus informs the Rabbi and the crowd that the time for his execution has passed, but he refuses to repent.

He then walks through the crowd, which is either stunned or paralysed by some magical force. As he travels to his father, Joseph’s, grave, we see a flashback to Jesus as a child.

Joseph teaches Jesus to write using Isaiah 61, and they also discuss what it means to be brokenhearted. Then, in a touching moment, Jesus assists Joseph in pounding two wooden blocks that are inadvertently shaped like a cross.

Joseph plays a cruel joke on Jesus. When Jesus looked for a box, Joseph found one and pulled out the harness. He claims it was passed down through their family for many years as a reminder of God’s previous rescue and the possibility of future liberation.

It was given to them by their grandfather, who fled Egypt during the Exodus. It is offered to Jesus by Joseph, who is aware that Jesus is unlikely to have a son to inherit it.

According to Jesus, the highest honour he could ever receive was to manage his life while on this planet, and he hopes he did a good thing. As Mary and Lazarus arrive, Jesus is thinking about something at the tombs.

They are relieved to hear that he is doing well. Lazarus does have the halter and the items from Jesus’ satchel. Jesus tells his mother that he had to do what he did even though he knew it was terrifying for her.

He declares that there is no turning back now; this is his final visit to Nazareth. For the time being, Mary is asked to leave and go live with Lazarus in Bethany. Lazarus suggests that he return home soon, perhaps for Rosh Hashanah.
