Excellently performed—even by the kids—full of amusingly sympathetic characters, vehemently anti-Mafia, and inspiring. He’s created and written a work that humanizes Sicily’s recent history while also blending hypothetical personal experiences with living there.

The main characters of this story, which takes place in Sicily in the 1980s, are Salvatore Giammaresi and his family. In addition to Pia and Lorenzo’s struggle in a city where it is impossible to live “normally” without connections, we see Salvatore go to school and all the issues that arise.
